Inspired by the Word - 2

Inspired by the Word
fed by the Spirit
messages in colors
in the shape of His face
in the hands who sculpted
in the music lifted to heaven
all of creation a masterpiece
for the Glory of God, the Creator,
Creator of heaven and earth.

woven together
two become one
intricately connected
never to part
remaining separate
maintaining uniqueness
two fruits from one trunk
roots held by the earth.

How could God look away – v2

In Christ’s darkest hour
being faithful to the path;
How could God look away
from the face of our Savior;
God watched in pain
as Jesus died for us.

God did not look away
in Christ’s moment of anguish.

God was with Jesus
upon the cross, in His suffering;
Jesus cried out,
He was fully human;
The pain, the agony,
consuming His flesh.

Pernicious – v2

Are we complicit
when we stand in silence;
Pernicious discrimination
devaluing our neighbors.

Excluding them from inclusion
blind to the judging;
Letting others abuse
our sisters and our brothers.

We must stand, we must speak out,
God is calling all of us to an awakening;
Looking at where boundaries are established
when we create stumbling blocks to full inclusion.

Not being silent before those who separate
who judge our neighbors;
Standing in the breach
with our brother, our Savior.

We are called to this mission, this purpose,
to speak out against repression;
The little insidious slights uttered
and the pernicious patterns of behavior.

How will I answer Jesus – v2

Her third question
at the end of the sermon
right before “Amen,” her conclusion.
How will I answer Jesus
when Christ asks me,
“Do you love me? Raymond,
my brother and friend?”

I pray that I will answer,
“Lord, You know I love You,”
echoing the words of Peter
when he was challenged
with these same words of Jesus,
when Christ posed these
same questions to him.

But I know, in truth, if I am honest,
this would only be part of my answer.
The unspoken words of Peter’s apology
these too would drip from my lips.
For I have denied my Savior,
I have hurt loved ones, with my words, my actions;
I have hated, I have cursed my neighbor,
I have turned my back on God.

How is this possible – v2

How is this possible
that the Council, the Sanhedrin,
were blind to the prophecy
fulfilled before them?

How were the Righteous
unable to see the Messiah
God standing before them
alive, in the flesh?
