kneeling before Jesus – v2

Jairus, the synagogue leader,
risking his reputation
faith more than fear
kneeling before Jesus
calling him to heal her
to come to his daughter
dying in her bed
risking his reputation
his position, his standing
but kneeling before Jesus
to heal his daughter’s illness
courageous submission
love over position
faith more than fear
coming to Jesus
his plea did he hear

the unruly organic mind – v2

Emotions deep residing
rising to the surface
boiling, bubbling over
taking over control
of my ordered mind within me
the truth of my unruly self
the animals deep within me
responding without rational thought

some deep emotion below
welling up, volcanic
not something I can qualify
because that needs my intellect
something sets them off
the barking dogs, their instinct
mirrors within, deciding
where it is fight or flight

Smaller Stones - v2

Big rocks at the cross
our sins, our past
yet smaller stones of memory
ripples in time

All we have said
all we have done in this life
footprints, impressions
left on other hearts

Threads of the circle
our clan, our tribe
those we once loved
those left behind

All we have said
all we have done in this life
footprints, impressions
left on other hearts

Big Rocks

Big stones that I carry
some smooth, some sharp
parts of my history
my journey in this life

Our past is behind us
we cannot change it anymore
yet part of our journey, our legacy
we carry it evermore

Some Word Deeper – v2

Some word deeper, poetry
written on my heart, alive
not thoughts of my rational brain
an emotion deep inside

Colors, words bubbling up
overflowing, pouring out
gushing from deep within me
sparked by a feeling, passion

An urging, a calling, seeds
sharing them with the world
casting seeds, stones in the seas
ripples, growth, on other shores

The leader named in the story
kneeling before Jesus
Jairus, the synagogue leader,
risking his reputation
calling him to heal her
to come to his daughter

kneeling before Jesus
a real man, this father
risking his reputation
his position, his standing
but kneeling before Jesus

Our Faith Call Us

Words of her poem
our prayer as a nation
a promise to the troubled
the oppressed yearning to breathe free
Our faith calls us
to an even deeper promise
to seek union, communion
with all who seek you
all who long to walk
with our Risen Lord
to lift up our neighbors
balm for their wounds
to walk with our Savior
where he will lead
Our faith calls us
to be hope for the hopeless
to assuage their fears
and give the prisoners comfort

To welcome the stranger

Opening our hearts
our nation, our churches
the source of our strength
in Christ’s example
To welcome the stranger
the Others, those different
to give them hope for connection
a place of deep healing
Together sharing, joining
into God’s kingdom
a hope universal
in stormy seas
Life in the union
welcoming the stranger
stronger for the bond
the joining of more threads
